Frequently Asked Questions

A chiropractic adjustment involves the skill of applying a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the joints to gradually regain more normal motion and function. The purpose of this safe and natural procedure is to permit improved overall spinal function. Chiropractic care has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment for common musculoskeletal conditions.
-
Yes absolutely. We accept all major private health insurance companies. Be sure to check your policy to ensure chiropractic care is covered.
We also have HICAPS onsite so you can get your rebate instantly.
-
Yes. The New Zealand Government’s inquiry into the safety of chiropractic care found that it is “remarkably safe.” Chiropractic has an excellent safety record. In relation to the treatment of neck and back pain, studies have shown that a course of chiropractic care was 250 times safer than a course of anti-inflammatory drugs.
Our team of chiropractors all have obtained a 5 year masters degree and will inform you of any risks prior to starting treatment.

The number of treatments needed for each person depends on such things as: History and previous lifestyle factors (there can be layers of structural compensations to untwist in order to allow your body to heal properly), injury severity, length of time you have had the issue, level of degeneration or bony damage in the spine, extent or spread of nerve and muscle damage, general fitness and age of patient, whether you smoke or are overweight, your body’s healing rate and sensitivity to any type of treatment (some people can tolerate more being done during one visit than other people may)
-
No. Everyone’s spine is unique and each adjustment is performed differently according to the person’s age, spine condition and other factors. Some bodies require much less force to be applied, such as young babies and children.
-
No, a referral is not necessary. However, GP’s do often refer to chiropractors and at Spine Care Chiropractic we regularly communicate with our client’s doctors.
-
Yes, we welcome many pregnant women into our practice. Your body will go through many changes during pregnancy, so having your spine checked by your chiropractor can help to keep you moving well and assist in maintaining the proper function of your pelvis and spine.
